I wanted to create an environment with something typically Dutch added to it. My first idea was to create a bright, colourful field full of tulips, with an wind-mill in the background. And this blond, cute girl in her wooden clogs in the foreground.
But somehow somewhere between drawing the sketch lines and colouring in the base colours I started liking this dark, lonely feeling it gave me.
It reminded me a little bit of Alice in Wonderland. This Dutch girl in a field of grass, with her dark blue boots on.
I wonder what she is thinking, staring at the wind-mill, in her own Wonderland.
